About NationsHeritage Federal Credit UnionCredit Union History:On May 9, 1960 , the Bureau of Federal Credit Unions of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare approved the M & C Federal Credit Union. Metals & Controls Inc. and M & C Nuclear Inc. were separate corporations that were acquired by merger with Texas Instruments of Dallas, Texas in April 1959. The original field of membership included employees of Texas Instruments Inc. and M & C Inc. who worked in Attleboro , MA . It also included members of the employee’s immediate family. During the 1960’s the field of membership was expanded to include other Texas Instruments operations in Versailles , Kentucky , Central Lakes , Michigan and Hunt Valley, Maryland . In February of 1971, the Credit Union changed its name to TI Federal Credit Union. In the early 1990’s the Credit Union expanded its field of membership to include Select Employee Groups, where members of select groups could join the Credit Union. If you belonged to an organization or small company, membership could be offered as an employee benefit and those select employees could then join the Credit Union. With the introduction of Select Employee Groups, the Credit Union wanted to expand their reach and realized that they needed to depart from Texas Instruments and establish their own identity. While Texas Instrument employees were and still are an integral part of our membership, their shrinking work force and reduction in facilities, had once again, directed the changes in the Credit Union. In 2001, we officially changed our name to NationsHeritage Federal Credit Union. As of May 2004, NationHeritage proudly announces its new status as a community chartered Credit Union which means that local residents in the Greater Attleboro area and Johnson City, Tennessee can now benefit from Credit Union membership. We, at NationsHeritage will continue to be a full-service financial institution. We look forward to our new role as a community based institution.
